1979 240GD (Nr. 518) and the new G 270CDI.
I bought this car July 1980 from a friend with 10.000 km. The car was built october 1979. The number of the chassis is 460#######0518, that means the 518. car. Now I have 330 000 km at the tachometer. After 100 000 km the motor was bad, the pistons had small breaks on the top and I bought a new Machine in exchange. This machine has now 230 000 km. It is a little 4 cylinder diesel with 75 HP. But the turning moment is enough and I used 1980 the car for deer hunting at Austria in the mountains near "Großglockner" and now hunting at Wartenberg. The 240GD has now nearly all screws replaced with stainles steel screws (V2A) and many other things like the holders of the exhaust. I hope I use the right words, my English is not good.
You see it, I'm an old driver with the G. I'm born 1943/august/03 in Bavaria, studied biology and chemistry, made my doctorate in biochemistry and I'm a secondary school teacher (biology, chemistry, physik, also computer programing). I found 5 old photos: two with the G and three photos, when I learned driving in the army (German army = "Bundeswehr") 1964. The snow-photo of my old 240 GD is made 1987 in Austria near by Salzburg. The photo with the two G photographed my wife during deer hunting in Austria. With my G I get the green G out of a mud hole. It was in the Austrian mountains nearby Hallein, this is an old town nearby Salzburg about 1600 m in autumn 1980.
