Welcome! This is a little background information about my Mercedes G and myself.

Name:Klaus Hold, born in 1967, citizen of Remscheid , Germany. I have bought my first G in 2002. It's a 1993 , W463 SWB. But how did it start ?

I was used to drive cost effective cars like the VW Golf and the VW Jetta. It was ok, but I have been looking for a different car. Something unusual.

I have seen an add in the local Newspaper advertizing the new Mercedes G 500. My first impression : They are still building them, hmm let's see what such a toy cost. At the end of the article there was the price " Starting from 75000,- " , Sounds reasonable! But, hey this was in Euro !!!. I hooked up to the internet to look for a used one. "What ? 7500 Euro for a 1984, with 150.000 Miles on the clock ? Are they kidding ??. But I was infected with the virus by then. I want a G !

4 weeks later , by lucky chance, my wife and my 3 year old daughter had seen this car during their way to the shopping mall.

Next morning, it was 6 o'clock before work, I dropped an eye on this car. It was standing at the dealer, with a "for sale" sign, not really in the front position to get this Car sold.

no fender flares

3 locks
Power steering
central locking
Colored windows (tempered)
power mirrors
and 65.000 Kilometers on the clock !!

2 previous owners had used this car just for towing a boat trailer.

Some corrosions here and there and some other repairs to do. 9 Years driving this car withot any big repairs, well serviced, but no one really took care about this car.

I have bought it for a low price, fixed some of the problems with oil leakage on engine and transmission. I have equipped this car with a remote control unit for central locking, a fuel fired heater, a front bar and some other stuff.

I use it for driving to work every day and 80 % on road. It's not so easy to find places to go off-road here in my area. But I will start doing it this year. I still need some minor setup's to do. You can watch my progress on my HP : WWW.gwagen.de

Some more things to come and to do, but I love this baby. Nice driving, unusual, Fuel Killer (you must know the German fuel price level...)

I really love the "straight" character of this car. It's no beauty, "Form follows function" and I don't think that I will sell it again.
