Death Valley - California, April 9th and 10th, 2004:

Trails: Surprise Canyon, Pleasant Canyon Loop, Coyote Canyon, Mengal Pass.

This was a quick little weekend outing with a few friends. In order to cover all the trails we actually had to do a little night run.

Although Surprise Canyon is closed to vehicles, we did hike in and take a few pictures. It's just amazing that people took their trucks through there.

Pleasant Canyon turned out to be the big hit of the trip. It was tougher than we expected. While the G and Cherokee made it without even a sweat, the ML had a tough time. Stacking rocks was the only way to get it through certain spots. Pleasant Canyon has several old cabins and mining camps worthy of a exploring.
