G-Treffen 2003, 09 to 12 October, 2003:
We all met up at the Cement Creek campground in Crested Butte last night, but since Dave had forgotten to gas up, he was delayed for this morning's start on the Italian Creek trail up to Flag Mountain. So the families busied themselves near teh trailhead waiting for Dave to "do his business".
Erwin shares a banana with Wyatt for lunch while Dallas the dog waits patiently nearby......hoping......

At last we're all ready to go!

A short jaunt over some interesting and beautiful terrain brought us to an irresistably steep, if short, climb up an old pile of mine tailings to this vantage point for a little rest.

Chuque explores the old mine shafts.

And Adam and Wyatt are engrossed in the stuff of little boys..

It's not much farther to our destination for this trip, the top of Flag Mountain. We have some great views out into the Taylor Park valley from here.

And no matter which way you turn, the backdrop for our favorite subjects is just as breathtaking.

From here we'll re-trace our steps back to camp for a delicious Dutch Oven dinner and warm sleeping bags.
Friday morning we decided to hit the Schofield Pass trail. Here we are just onto the trail proper. On the way in we bolstered our "car karma" by stopping to help some hunters that had a flat and no tools. Once we had them on their way we knew we'd be blessed with an excellent day, in spite of the threatening clouds.

Everybody posed at the first small water crossing in front of this beautiful waterfall. This is Erwin's turn.

I'll post more as I have time but here are a few.....
