I'm thinking of putting together a walk-on hood.
One plan is to reinforce the hood I have, and spray on some grit paint (using a mask I would laser cut to look like the MB original). I was talking to my neighbour at my shop and he (being a fibreglasser) suggested I should just get a fibreglass hood made. He could take a mold of the original and provide me with a FG hood in a few days.
A foam-core FG hood would be lighter than stock, which would be an advantage - and it would be just as durable as walking on the deck of a boat. But maybe there are some disadvantages I haven't thought of. Anyone else home-brew a walk on hood?
Cheers,
Michael
